Virtual Machine Manager Library Server Software Requirements
The following software must be installed prior to adding a Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) library server:
An operating system supported by VMM.
For more information about operating systems supported by VMM, see Supported Operating Systems for Virtual Machine Manager.Windows Remote Management (WinRM).
For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003 R2, you must install this software from the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=84599.Important
For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, if you have previously enabled WinRM by using the Management and Monitoring Tools components group in Add/Remove Windows Components, it will not work with Virtual Machine Manager. You must disable WinRM and then install this software from the following site https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=84599.
To create a new virtual machine that has a blank virtual hard disk and store it directly to a library server, the library server must have one of the following versions of Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 installed:
- Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 or above.
- Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 x64 SP1 or above.
Note
Alternately, when you create a new virtual machine that has a blank hard disk, you can deploy it to a host, and then store it in the library.
