How to Temporarily Disable Library Resources

Applies To: Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1

To temporarily remove a file-based resource from the Virtual Machine Manager library, you can disable the resource. For example, you might want to disable an ISO image while you apply patches.

A disabled resource remains in the library but cannot be used in new virtual machines, guest operating system profiles, software profiles, or virtual machine templates until it is enabled.

To disable library resources

  1. In Library view, expand Library Servers in the navigation pane, and then navigate to the library share that contains the resources you want to disable.

  2. In the results pane, select the resources.

  3. In the Actions pane, under the resource type, click Disable.

In the results pane, the resource appears shaded and unavailable, and its status is Disabled.
