Sending malware samples to Microsoft

Applies To: Forefront Client Security

To help ensure that Client Security is as effective as possible, please send samples of the following items to Microsoft:

  • Malware that Client Security failed to identify as malware

  • Software or files incorrectly identified as malware

If you need support with an urgent malware situation, call Microsoft support services. For more information, see Obtaining technical support.

For malware submissions that are not urgent, you can use Client Security malware submission (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=86097).

You can also submit malware samples by e-mail. The product Help included with the Client Security console provides detailed steps for submitting malware samples by e-mail.

To access Help for sending malware samples to Microsoft by e-mail

  1. On the Client Security management server, run the Microsoft Forefront Client Security console.

  2. Click Help, and then click Help Topics. The Help window appears.

  3. Search for the topic titled "Submitting malware samples" and follow the steps in that procedure.
