Modifying the Default Voice
Modifying the Default Voice
Use the Speech Engine Configurations tab of the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in for Microsoft Speech Server (MSS) 2004 to change the default voice used by applications for text-to-speech (TTS) processing, or to specify an application-specific TTS voice.
This is the voice that callers hear when an application must synthesize speech output rather than use prerecorded prompts. For more information, see the section on the prompt engine in the topic Producing Speech Output.
To modify the default voice
Open the MMC Administration console. (For instructions, see Administering Speech Server Using MMC.)
In the console tree, expand the applicable group.
In the details pane, double-click the computer running SES to open the SES properties page.
Click the Speech Engine Configurations tab.
Under Engine Configurations:, select DefaultVoice.
In the Engine Name drop-down list, select the voice to use for all applications by default.
Specifying an Application-Specific Voice
You can also specify a different voice for a particular application; for example, an application that supports a non-English language. To do this, create a configuration for the prompt engine.
