Adding and removing virtual network adapters
You can install as many as four network adapters on a virtual machine. The virtual machine must be turned off before you can add or remove a network adapter.
You can configure each network adapter to use one of the network connections described in the following table. When you configure a network adapter, the list of available connections will display the names assigned to the virtual networks and not the names listed in the following table.
Network connection | Description |
---|---|
Not connected |
No connection is specified for the network adapter. |
Internal |
Connects the virtual machine to a virtual network that is available only to other virtual machines. This type of network is isolated from the external network of the physical computer. |
External |
Connects the virtual machine to the external network through the network adapter of the physical computer. |
Microsoft Loopback Adapter |
Connects the virtual machine to a virtual network that provides networking between the guest operating system and host operating system. |
For instructions, see Add or remove a virtual network adapter.
Note
Virtual Server supports an unlimited number of virtual networks. For more information about using and managing the virtual networks, see Setting Up Virtual Networks.
