Retrieving a Recovery Password in MDM

Password reset in MDM enables a user who has forgotten his or her device password to reset it. The user can contact the Help Desk Administrator to obtain a one-time recovery password for the device. After validating the user's identity, the Help Desk Administrator retrieves the recovery password and sends it to the user. The user can then reset the password and access the device.

This procedure shows how to retrieve the recovery password for a device from the MDM Console.

To retrieve the MDM recovery password from MDM Console

  1. Open MDM Console, and in the navigation pane, expand Device Management.

  2. Select All Managed Devices. The list of managed devices appears in the details pane.

  3. Find the target device, right-click the device name, and then select Display recovery password, or highlight the device name and select Display recovery password from the Actions pane. The recovery password will be displayed in the Mobile Device Manager dialog box.

  4. Record the recovery password, and then choose OK to close the dialog box.
