About directly publishing a single Web application with IAG

Applies To: Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG)

You can use Whale Communication Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 to allow remote access to multiple internal resources through a portal, or to allow remote access to a single Web application or Web mail server that you publish directly. For information about creating a portal, see About publishing applications in an IAG portal.

Directly published Web applications create a one-to-one connection, where one IP address routes to a single Web application server. To directly publish a Web application, you can create two types of IAG trunks, as follows:

  • Web mail trunks are dedicated trunks for a single Web mail application and are automatically created with authentication, application customization, and URL inspection rules that are optimized for the specific Web mail application you are running on the trunk.

  • Basic trunks enable you to establish a one-to-one connection, where one IP address routes to a single application server.

Directly publishing a Web application

Directly publishing a Web application or Web mail server consists of the following steps:

  1. Optionally preconfigure the IAG HTTP Connections and HTTPS Connections services. For more information, see Modifying IAG network and server settings.

  2. Publish the Web application by using the Getting Started Wizard. For more information, see Publishing a single Web application directly with IAG.

  3. After configuring a Web application trunk by using the Getting Started Wizard, you can refine settings for each trunk. For more information, see Managing IAG portals and published applications.

  4. If you publish a Web application over HTTPS, you can create a redirect trunk to ensure that HTTP requests for the published application are redirected correctly. For more information, see Redirecting HTTP requests for an IAG HTTPS site.
