Understanding Forefront UAG operations
Updated: February 15, 2013
Applies To: Unified Access Gateway
By performing daily, weekly, monthly, and on-demand operations, you can monitor the status and performance of your Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG), and detect any abnormal activity. It is important to implement these periodic maintenance and monitoring operations so that you can capture and maintain data for analysis, such as usage levels, possible performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues and administrative changes.
Periodic maintenance and monitoring operations enable you to do the following:
Make sure that performance requirements, as detailed in your baseline information, are met.
Make sure that specific administrative tasks, such as, backup operations and checking server health, are successfully completed.
Detect and address issues, such as, bottlenecks in the server performance, or the need for additional resources on your Forefront UAG servers.
Make sure that the servers in your Forefront UAG deployment are operating correctly.
The following lists some of the standard operation tasks that you must do for Forefront UAG, and their frequency. Use this list as a basis for generating maintenance and monitoring operations for your deployment. Specific details of these tasks are described later in the guide.
