Select code
Microsoft Expression Web provides you with several different ways to quickly select tags and other code, including a block of property declarations for a style or the braces that surround the property block. You can choose to select only the start or end tag, or only the content that resides between the tags, or the tags and the content.
Tip
Many features and commands you can use in the Code view of a page have keyboard shortcuts. For more information, see Code view shortcuts in Keyboard shortcuts.
To select a set of tags and the content within
In Design or Code view, in your web page, place your cursor in the tag or in content of the tags.
Do one of the following:
At the top of the document window, on the Quick Tag Selector bar, click the tag that you want.
At the top of the document window, on the Quick Tag Selector bar, point to the tag that you want, click the arrow next to that tag, and then click Select Tag.
In Code view, on the Code View toolbar, click the Select Tag button .
In Code view, on the Edit menu, point to Code View, and then click Select Tag.
To select the content within tags
In Design or Code view, in your web page, place your cursor in the tag or in content of the tags.
At the top of the document window, on the Quick Tag Selector bar, point to the tag that you want, click the arrow next to that tag, and then click Select Tag Contents.
To select the matching tag
In Code view, in your web page, put your cursor in either the start or end tag that you want to select, and then do one of the following:
In the Code View toolbar, click the Find Matching Tag button .
On the Edit menu, point to Code View, and then click Find Matching Tag.
Repeat this procedure to select the start or end tag that matches the selected tag.
To select a style's block of property declarations
In Code view, in your web page, put your cursor in the block of property declarations, and then do one of the following:
In the Code View toolbar, click the Select Block button .
On the Edit menu, point to Code View, and then click Select Block.
To select the matching curly brace for a style's block of property declarations
In Code view, in your web page, put your cursor just outside a style's block of property declarations or anywhere within the block, and then do one of the following:
In the Code View toolbar, click the Find Matching Brace button .
On the Edit menu, point to Code View, and then click Find Matching Brace.
Repeat this procedure to select the matching brace.
