Optimize the source code of a site

Microsoft Expression Web can remove specified HTML code from your pages when you publish your site from the local site to the remote site. Changes appear only in the remote site; your local site is not affected. For information about optimizing HTML code in individual pages or in your local site, see Optimize the source code of a single page.

Note

You have to publish your site after you make changes to the optimization options for the changes to take effect in your published site.

To optimize HTML when you publish

  1. In Publishing view, click Publishing settings.

  2. On the Publishing tab, select Optimize HTML during publishing.

  3. Click Customize, and then select the items that you want removed from the page.

  4. To set your options as the default, click Set as default.

    Note

To restore default options, click Restore Defaults.
