Designing Office Solutions

Before you can develop your Visual Studio Tools for Office solution, you must create a project in Visual Studio. Visual Studio Tools for Office provides projects that you can use to create several different types of Microsoft Office solutions. For more information, see Creating Office Solutions in Visual Studio.

When you create a document-level project, the document and the associated application are hosted inside Visual Studio so you can design and work directly with the document. For more information, see Using Office Functionality Inside of Visual Studio.

For information about how to implement code and user interface customizations after you have planned and created your project, see Developing Office Solutions.
