How to: Change Version Control Environment Settings

You can control default values for many version control environment settings by using a set of options. These settings include:

  • Get everything when a solution or project is opened.

  • Check in everything when closing a solution or project.

  • Display silent check out command in menus.

  • Keep items checked out when checking in changes.

  • Set options for checking in items.

Required Permissions

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators or Users security group on the computer where Visual Studio is installed. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To change version control environment settings

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. In the Options dialog box, expand the Source Control node, and then click Environment.

    Note

    If the Source Control node does not appear, click Show all settings.

  3. Make your changes using the Source Control Environment Settings controls.

  4. Click OK.
