How to: Set a Test Configuration To Be Inactive

In Microsoft Test Manager, you can  inactive as shown in the following illustration. Use the inactive state if you do not want it to be used currently for test plans in your team project and you do not want to delete the test configuration yet.

Change the State of a Test Configuration

Note

If a configuration has already been assigned to test cases in the test plan, the configuration will continue to be displayed as a choice for default configurations even if it has been marked inactive.

Procedure

To set a test configuration to be inactive

  1. Open Microsoft Test Manager.

    Note

    To display the Microsoft Test Manager window, click Start, and then click All Programs. Point to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and then click Microsoft Test Manager 2010.

  2. From the Testing Center, click Organize and then click Test Configuration Manager.

    The Test Configuration Manager pane is displayed.

  3. Select the test configuration that you want to make inactive and then click Open.

  4. If you do not want your configuration to be displayed as a choice for new test plans and test suites, click State and select Inactive.

  5. Click Save and Close.

    The test configuration is displayed in the list with a state of inactive.
