How to: View Foreign Key Properties

View the foreign key attributes of a relationship if you want to see which columns participate in the foreign key side of a relationship. If the foreign key columns are related to a primary key, the primary key columns are identified in Table Designer by a primary key symbol in the row selector.

Your computer might show different names or locations for some of the Visual Studio user interface elements in the following instructions. The Visual Studio edition that you have and the settings that you use determine these elements. For more information, see Visual Studio Settings.

To view the foreign key attributes of a relationship

  1. Open the Table Designer for the table containing the foreign key you want to modify, right-click in the Table Designer, and choose Relationships from the shortcut menu.

  2. In the Foreign Key Relationships dialog box, select the relationship with properties you want to view.

  3. The properties are displayed in the grid to the right.
