Open or Save a File Attached to a Work Item (Team Explorer Everywhere)
To view information that has been attached to a work item, and stored in the Team Foundation database, you can open the attached file. You can also save a local copy. You can open or save file attachments using the following Team Foundation clients: the Team Foundation Server plug-in for Eclipse, Team Web Access, Team Explorer, Office Excel, and Office Project.
Required Permissions
To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Readers group or have your View work items in this node permission set to Allow. For more information, see the following topic: Team Foundation Server Permissions.
To open or save a file attached to a work item
Open the work item form for editing and click the tab for managing attachments.
Note
The name of the tab might be Attachments or File Attachments. The name of the tab is determined by the work item definition.
To open an attachment, follow these steps:
Click the attachment that you want to open.
Click Open.
To save an attached file that you opened, use the application that opened the file.
For example, if you open a text file that uses Notepad, from the File menu of Notepad, click Save.
To save an attached file without opening it, follow these steps:
Right-click the attachment that you want to save, and click Download (Save Locally).
Browse to the folder where you want to store the file.
Type a file name in File name.
Click Save.
