Displays design-time controls, ActiveX® controls, applets, HTML scraps, objects, and text based on the designer or editor you are using to build a project. The tools are enabled only when the associated designer or editor is active.
Although each development environment has its own default set of Toolbox items, the Toolbox always contains the pointer tool,
. You can use the pointer to resize or move a control that has been drawn on a form.
Some applications may automatically insert items into the Toolbox that cannot be removed.
In the Toolbox you can:
Copy a Toolbox item from one tab to another tab by pressing CTRL and dragging the selected item to the new tab.
Move a Toolbox item from one tab to another tab by dragging the selected item to the new tab.
Note If you try to move a nonremovable item, dragging it to a new tab will copy it to the new tab instead of moving it.
Use the mouse to select and drag Toolbox items, text, and controls onto forms, pages, and designers. Double-click an item to display it in the center of the active designer.
For example, you can drag an item from the Windows Explorer. These items appear only on the machine on which they were added.
Change the icon used for an item.
Paste an item that has been copied to the Clipboard.
Create tabs for customized grouping of your Toolbox items by selecting Add Tab from the shortcut menu when you right-click the Toolbox.
Delete an item.
Drag valid IDataObjects into and out of the Toolbox as long as an associated provider is available.
Drag selected scraps of code or text from the text editor into the Toolbox and then drag it into other files or windows where you want to use it.
Rearrange items on a tab and rearrange the tabs by dragging them to the location you want.
Rename the description text of items.
View Toolbox items of the active tab by icon and associated description and in a list format by selecting List View from the shortcut menu when you right-click the Toolbox window.
