Help API


The Help API enables opening help catalogs and retrieving help content items such as:

  • indexed help topics (XHTML, HTML)
  • non-indexed images
  • CSS files
  • JavaScript
  • audio/video elements

The API makes it possible to search a help catalog, navigate the table of contents, retrieve keywords, and perform an F1 help topic lookup.

Developers can use this API to create a custom help solution or viewer for a product that uses the new Windows Help Runtime deployed in Windows 8.
