Administration Component

Note

Indexing Service is no longer supported as of Windows XP and is unavailable for use as of Windows 8. Instead, use Windows Search for client side search and Microsoft Search Server Express for server side search.

 

The Administration component provides access to the indexing and filtering processes. Examples of administration include: adjusting parameters for performance or index size, managing catalogs and directories (to be indexed or not to be indexed), and adjusting querying parameters. The Administration component consists of the following files.

ciadmin.dll Indexing Service snap-in for the MMC.
Ciodm.dll Admin Helper automation objects (AdminIndexServer, CatAdm, ScopeAdm).
Idq.dll Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) extensions for Indexing Service.
