Example of Command Tree

Note

Indexing Service is no longer supported as of Windows XP and is unavailable for use as of Windows 8. Instead, use Windows Search for client side search and Microsoft Search Server Express for server side search.

Understanding the output from the Simple sample (QSample) in the samples directory of the Platform SDK helps to explain how Indexing Service resolves a query through its OLE DB interfaces.

For example, the following query, which is the default query run against the "SYSTEM" catalog, uses the system default locale LCID (0x409 = 1033 = "US-EN"=United States' English) and returns columns "Size" and "Path" with no sorting and no custom properties. The output of the sample is the following.
