Pattern-Matching Queries

Note

Indexing Service is no longer supported as of Windows XP and is unavailable for use as of Windows 8. Instead, use Windows Search for client side search and Microsoft Search Server Express for server side search.

Pattern-matching queries are property-value queries that use UNIX-style regular expressions, Microsoft MS-DOS or Microsoft Windows wildcard characters, or alternate word forms to compare the values of value-type properties to specified patterns. The topics in this section describes the pattern-matching syntax used in Dialect 2.
