Returns information about whether the conversion from the specified source type to the specified destination type is supported.

Syntax

HRESULT CanConvert (
   DBTYPE   wSrcType,
   DBTYPE   wDstType);

Parameters

  • wSrcType
    [in]

    The source type of the conversion to be verified.

  • wDstType
    [in]

    The destination type of the conversion to be verified.

Return Code

  • S_OK
    The method succeeded and the conversion is supported.

  • S_FALSE
    The requested conversion is not supported.

  • E_INVALIDARG
    One or more of the DBTYPE values specified was invalid.

Comments

IDataConvert::CanConvert returns information about OLE DB 1.0 compliant conversions only. In order to determine what other conversions are possible, use IDCInfo::SetInfo.
