Enterprise workers that use Windows Embedded CE powered thin clients may have to connect to either a printer attached to the thin client, or to a nearby printer on the network.

To add a printer for a thin client, use the printer wizard after you have downloaded the thin client run-time image to the standard development board or the Windows Embedded CE PC-based hardware platform (CEPC).

The printer that is installed with the printer wizard will be used for printing jobs during an RDP session with a server that is running Terminal Services.

To access the printer wizard in the thin client shell

  1. Turn on the CEPC or standard development board.

  2. Press F2 to display the Terminal Properties dialog box.

  3. Select Control Panel.

  4. Select Printer to start the Printer Setup Wizard.

Follow the instructions in the wizard.

Note

You should always add a printer by using the printer wizard instead of configuring a printer in the registry. The wizard adds important binary data to the registry that is used for redirected printing.

For information about the registry settings for the installed printers, see Configured Printers in a Thin Client.
