Redirection changes the expected path for accessing resources. Resources can include hard drives, ports, printers, and smart cards. Redirection is achieved by using a redirector.

In Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 5.1 and later versions, the redirectors do not require separate settings.

For information about how to write and register your own virtual channels or your own redirectors, see Virtual Channels Implementation.

Include Redirectors

To include redirectors in a thin client run-time image, make sure that you select the associated Catalog items in Core OS\CEBASE\Applications - End User\Remote Desktop Connection.

The following table shows the redirectors available with Windows Embedded CE 6.0.

Enable or Disable Redirectors

To enable or disable redirectors that are already included in an OS design, you can edit the registry.

To enable or disable drive redirection, COM port redirection, printer redirection, or smart card redirection, see Configuring the Terminal Services Client.

To enable or disable clipboard redirection for files, see Configuring Filtered File Storage Redirection.

You can also enable or disable redirectors by using the Remote Desktop client interface.

To enable or disable redirectors by using the Remote Desktop client

  1. Turn on the thin client and open CETSC. For information on the various options for opening CETSC, see Changing the Shell Startup Behavior in Thin Client.

  2. Click Options.
