Manually Resolving a Dependency

After you perform a dependency check by using Windows XP Embedded Target Designer, the Tasks tab includes dependencies that must be resolved manually. Resolving a dependency involves either adding required components to a configuration, or disabling or removing disallowed components from a configuration.

To resolve a dependency manually

  1. Double-click a task on the Tasks tab.

The Resolve Dependency dialog box appears and displays a list of components to choose from and specific instructions for how to resolve the dependency.

  2. Follow the instructions in the Resolve Dependency dialog box.

To complete a task without resolving the dependency

  • Select the check box next to the task.

An unresolved dependency can cause a configuration to build improperly. This can be useful for testing, but is otherwise not recommended.
