In Windows XP Embedded Target Designer, you can add a custom resource to a configuration. This is in addition to any custom resources that exist in the components of the configuration.
To add a custom resource to a configuration
In the configuration editor, right-click Extra Resources and choose Add.
If the Extra Resources node is not shown in the configuration editor, choose the View menu, and then choose Resources. A check mark is placed next to Resources.
Choose the custom resource that you want to add.
The Add an Extra Resource to the Configuration dialog box appears.
Type a unique name and detailed description for the custom resource.
Add extended properties or edit or delete existing extended properties.
For more information, see Extended Properties.
Specify whether the custom resource should be included in Release builds, Debug builds, or both.
If this custom resource must be processed before or after another resource during a run-time image build, specify a build order number from 0 to 32767. The lower the build order number, the earlier the resource is processed. The default is 1000. This indicates that the resource does not require a specific build order.
To specify that this resource must be localized, select the This resource requires localization check box.
Choose OK.
After a custom resource is added to a configuration, its information can be changed. In the details pane, double-click the resource and edit the information in the Registry Resource Properties dialog box.
