Disabling Auto-Resolve

By default, Windows XP Embedded Target Designer is configured to resolve include dependencies automatically during a dependency check.

Resolving an include dependency involves adding, enabling, removing, or disabling components in a configuration. The auto-resolve feature greatly speeds this process. However, it can add or enable components than you do not want in the configuration, including those that you had previously removed or disabled. Similarly, it can remove or disable components that you do want in the configuration, including those that you had previously added or enabled.

To maintain tighter control over your run-time image footprint and to review each include dependency before resolving it, you can disable the auto-resolve feature.

To disable Auto-Resolve

  1. In Windows XP Embedded Target Designer, from the Tools menu, choose Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, select the Dependency Check tab.
  3. Clear the Auto-resolve dependencies check box.
  4. Choose OK.
