Disabling Components

You can enable or disable the components that you add to a configuration. When you disable a component rather than delete it, the configuration data in the component instance is not removed. This allows you to experiment with many variations of a single configuration during development.

For example, you can create a configuration that contains two instances of the same component. You can configure each instance differently and then experiment with them by alternately enabling one instance and disabling the other.

To disable a component in a configuration

  1. In Windows XP Embedded Target Designer, select a component in the configuration editor.

  2. Right-click the component and choose Disable.

The component name in the configuration editor is dimmed when it is disabled.
