This section provides information about the Bluetooth profiles and related Bluetooth features that are available in this release of Windows Embedded NavReady.

Bluetooth is a wireless communication technology that allows devices, within a 10-meter proximity, to communicate with each other. The discovery process enables devices to query other devices about the services they offer. If a device offers more than one service, users can select the service they want to use from that particular device.

With Windows Embedded NavReady, a portable navigation device (PND) can support the following Bluetooth profiles in order to connect to a Bluetooth-enabled device and use its services:

    Provides information on the Catalog items that you can use to build an operating-system (OS) design that supports Bluetooth profiles, together with overview descriptions of each Bluetooth profile available to you.
  • Bluetooth Profiles Reference
    Provides reference information about the programming elements in the APIs available for use with each Bluetooth Profile.
  • Bluetooth Protocol Stack
    Describes the base Bluetooth protocol stack in Windows Embedded CE that supports the additional profiles and Bluetooth features provided with Windows Embedded NavReady.

    The protocol stack makes up the core portion of the Bluetooth implementation.

  • Bluetooth Security
    Describes security and best-practice information for Bluetooth functionality.
  • Connection Manager for Portable Navigation Devices
    Describes Connection Manager, which is a feature that centralizes and automates the establishment and management of network connections for applications that run on a portable navigation device (PND).
