This topic describes how to send search results from a desktop PC to an MSN Direct receiver connected to a portable navigation device (PND).

If you have a navigation system that is compatible with the Received Locations service from MSN Direct, you can send locations that you find on Live Search Maps wirelessly to your navigation system. You can explore restaurants, find a store, locate a residence, or plan your trip—then, send the location names and addresses to your navigation system.

To use the Received Locations service, you must add the product key from your PND to your Windows Live account. For more information, see this Microsoft Web site.

Procedure

To send search results to a portable navigation device (PND)

  1. On your desktop PC, open a browser and browse to Live Search at this Microsoft Web site.

  2. Search the map to find businesses, people, collections, or places either by using the search box or by zooming in on the map and then browsing a category.

  3. In the search-results list, locate a search result to send to your portable navigation device (PND).

  4. Under the specific search result, Choose Send to…, and then choose GPS.

  5. Follow the instructions to register with Windows Live and send your search results to your PND.

  6. Turn on your PND. In the main menu, browse to Received Locations to find the search results you just sent to your PND.

  7. Choose a location from the list to get turn-by-turn directions by using the navigation application installed on your PND.
