Installing POSReady Optional Components

Many optional components are available on your Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 installation media. They are listed and described here.

Installing Optional Components During Installation
You can select your desired optional components by using the Setup Wizard during interactive installation. The POSReady Setup Wizard provides three installation types: Typical, Minimum, and Custom.
- Typical installation includes the .NET Framework 2.0, POS for .NET 1.12, and Notepad
- Minimum installation includes no optional components
- Custom installation enables you to choose your desired optional components
How to install optional components during interactive installation
On the Installation Type page of the Setup Wizard, select Custom. The Optional Components page is displayed.
Select your desired optional components from the list.
Note
Some items depend on other components. If you select a component that has dependencies, the other required components will automatically be selected.
Specifying Optional Components for Unattended Installation
You can specify your desired optional components in an answer file for unattended installation. Optional components are defined in the <Components> sub-element of <SystemData>. For more information, see Answer File Reference.
For example, to install Internet Information Services (IIS), use the following:

You can also use the /guionly switch to start an interactive installation and create an answer file that lists your selected optional components. For more information, see POSReady Setup and the Command Line.
Installing Optional Components in POSReady
There are two ways to install optional components within POSReady:
- By choosing Add/Remove Windows Components from Control Panel
- By inserting your POSReady installation media and using the POSReady Companion Setup
How to install optional components from Control Panel
Insert your POSReady installation media.
On the taskbar, choose Start, and then choose Control Panel. Control Panel is displayed.
In Control Panel, choose Add or Remove Programs. The Add or Remove Programs dialog box is displayed.
Choose Add/Remove Windows Components from the left menu. The Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 Components Wizard is displayed.
Choose your desired components from the list and choose Next to install them.
How to install optional components by using your POSReady installation media
Insert your POSReady installation media.
On the taskbar, choose Start, and then choose My Computer. The My Computer window is displayed.
Browse to the Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 installation media and choose the AutoRun application. POSReady Companion Setup is displayed.
Choose Companion Applications, choose your desired components from the list, and then choose Install.
