Testing the IP Phone (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/5/2010

After downloading the run-time image to the CEPCs or to the Emulator instances, you are ready to test the VoIP phone run-time image by calling from one instance to another.

Before you perform these steps, both instances of the VoIP phone run-time image must be running and must display the VoIP Home Screen page.

If the instances do not display the VoIP Home Screen, reset the Emulators or CEPCs and download the run-time image again. For detailed instructions, see Downloading the Emulator IP Phone Run-time Image (for an Emulator) or Downloading a Run-Time Image to a CEPC.

To test the VoIP phones

  1. On phone A (the phone that places the call), the main screen appears. Note the IP address of the phone, which is displayed both in the top left corner and also in the center of the screen beneath the text Windows CE. (When the phone is not provisioned, it displays its IP address in both locations. When it is provisioned, it will still display the IP address in the top left corner of the IP Home Screen.)

  2. On phone B (the phone that receives the call), perform Step 1.

  3. On phone A, press F6 to mimic taking the phone off hook.

  4. On phone A, use the numeric and period keys on the desktop PC keyboard to enter the numeric IP address of phone B, and then choose Dial to connect the call.

Phone A displays Ringing and Phone B displays the Incoming Call dialog box.

  5. To take phone B off hook and have a conversation with phone A, press F6 or choose Answer.
