Hardware Component Requirements for Windows Network Projectors (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/5/2010

This topic provides the minimal hardware requirements and recommendations for the development of Windows Embedded CE wireless network projectors and large screen displays.

Required Functionality

Windows Embedded CE based Windows Network Projectors and large screen displays rely on the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to connect to a Windows Vista-based PC. Windows Network Projector functionality requires support for RDP and display update rates greater than 6 frames per second. Image refresh rates will vary based on image content being displayed, the hardware components used in the network projector, and the quality of the signal between the Windows Vista-based PC and the Windows Network Projector.

The information below lists considerations for designing hardware for Windows Embedded CE-based network projectors and large screen displays. For each hardware section, background information as well as product design considerations are listed.

  • REQUIRED: Hardware features required for a Windows Embedded CE wireless network display device.
  • RECOMMENDED: Hardware features which provide added capabilities, improved performance, and a better user experience.
  • OPTIONAL: Hardware features that are not required or recommended but may provide product differentiation.
