System Bus (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

1/6/2010

In combination, the system bus and the drivers that interact with it can decrease real-time performance by delaying other events or locking the bus for extended periods.

To minimize the negative impact, examine how the drivers on your hardware platform affect real-time processing. For example, on a CEPC, display drivers and network drivers can affect real-time performance negatively because the CEPC runs on a standard PC bus, instead of a memory-based hardware platform.

To improve real-time performance, use non-hardware-optimized display drivers, such as 8PP and Flat that do not affect real-time performance negatively. Avoid using hardware-optimized display drivers, such as the S3 Virge and ATI that decrease real-time performance because they sometimes lock the bus for extended periods.
