Image Configuration Editor User Interface (Standard 7 SP1)
7/8/2014
The Image Configuration Editor user interface (UI) contains a series of panes. These panes enable you to create an unattended answer file and then add packages to the respective configuration passes in the answer file. The following illustration shows the Image Configuration Editor UI.
The Image Configuration Editor UI is described in the following sections:
- Image Configuration Editor Panes
- Image Configuration Editor Menus
- Image Configuration Editor Buttons
Image Configuration Editor Panes
The following sections describe the Image Configuration Editor panes.
Distribution Share Pane
The Distribution Share pane displays the currently open distribution share folder in tree view. You can select, create, explore, and close distribution share folders by selecting the top node and then right-clicking in the pane. You can add items that are in an open distribution share folder to an answer file by right-clicking the item. For more information, see Distribution Shares in Standard 7.
Answer File Pane
The Answer File pane displays the packages, components, files, and folders that are added to the currently opened answer file. In this pane, you can open and edit an existing answer file, or create a new answer file. For more information, see Answer Files in Standard 7.
Note
To remove a package from an image, you must create a new image. The use of the dism/Remove Package command option is not supported in Windows Embedded Standard 7 and might cause your image to become unstable or corrupt.
For more information about managing packages, see Operating System Package Servicing Command-Line Options.
Settings Pane
The Settings pane consists of two tabs: Settings and Properties.
In the Settings pane, the Settings tab displays customization settings that you can use to configure the run-time environment of the target device.
In the Settings pane, the Properties tab displays the properties and settings of a selected component or package.
On the Properties tab, the read-only Properties region displays the static properties of a selected component or package. The Settings region displays the settings of a selected component, and displays the settings and Standard 7 feature selections of a selected package. For more information, see Settings and Properties in Windows Embedded Standard 7.
Messages Pane
The Messages pane consists of four tabs that differentiate four types of messages: XML, Validation, Configuration Set, and Import PMQ. Clicking a tab in the Messages pane displays the type of message, a message description and the location of the issue for the selected message type.
The types of messages that the Messages pane displays are informational. Messages appear only in the Configuration Set messages tab if a configuration set has been created. For more information, see Distribution Shares in Standard 7.
