Start in Audit Mode

3/21/2011

There are several ways to start in audit mode:

  • For attended installations, on the Windows Welcome screen, press SHIFT+CTRL+F3.

  • In unattended installations, choose WinEmb-Deployment, choose Reseal, choose Mode, and then choose Audit. For more information about this setting, see Windows Embedded Standard 7 Packages Technical Reference.
You can use Image Configuration Editor to create an answer file. For more information, see Image Configuration Editor Technical Reference.

  • Run sysprep /audit to configure the system to start in audit mode on the next restart. For more information, see the Sysprep Technical Reference.

    Note

If you use sysprep /audit to start in audit mode, the computer will be removed from a domain. You must rejoin the computer to a domain in audit mode.

After a computer starts in audit mode, the computer continues to start in audit mode until you configure the computer to start without Windows Welcome.
