Deploy from a DVD (Standard 7 SP1)
7/8/2014
If you do not use a network or images in your manufacturing process, use the DVD start method. Because the DVD start method is completely manual, it is slower. However, for low-volume businesses, this method enables a high degree of manual customization. This method is also used in image-based deployments. The following illustration shows a DVD-start deployment.
The basic process of this method is as follows:
Create an answer file by using Image Configuration Editor and store the answer file onto a removable media device, for example, a floppy disk or UFD. The answer file must be named Autounattend.xml.
Insert removable media and the Windows Embedded Standard 7 product DVD into computer.
Start the computer.
Image Builder applies any settings that are specified in the answer file.Note
The Standard 7 setup process performs several verifications, which rely on the target device's date and time settings. For optimal performance, confirm that the target device is set to the correct date and time.
When Image Builder is finished, you can make any additional customizations and run tests.
Run the sysprep /oobe /generalize /shutdown command and then deliver the computer to the customer.
