Active Directory Rights Management (Standard 7 Package Reference)

7/8/2014

This package is a Feature Pack in the category Security. The name of the package as it appears on disk and for use with some command-line tools is WinEmb-Security-RMClient-V1-API.

This package provides support for Active Directory Rights Management.

Active Directory Rights Management is an information-protection technology that helps safeguard digital information from unauthorized use through persistent-usage policies. These remain with the information regardless of where it goes. It can provide protection of sensitive information for applications enabled for Active Directory Rights Management.

Attributes can be set by the content owner or author to control who can open, view, modify, save, print, forward, or otherwise use information to protect accidental or intentional release of information to unauthorized entities. Document creators can apply use restrictions on a document, e-mail or other forms of information. Templates can be created by organizations to be used on sensitive documents or applications to control access. The attributes set remain with the document. Therefore, protection is provided at the document level, unlike other solutions such as a firewall or Discretionary Access Control List (DACL).
