offlineServicing Configuration Pass (Standard 8)
7/8/2014
Review what happens in the offlineServicing configuration pass in Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8).
The offlineServicing pass is used to apply unattended settings to an offline Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8) image. During this configuration pass, you can add language packs, updates, or other packages to the offline image.
The offlineServicing pass runs during Image Builder Wizard (IBW). IBW extracts and installs the Standard 8 image and then executes Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM). Modules listed in the servicing section of the configuration file are applied to the offline Standard 8 image. The Unattend.xml settings in the offlineServicing pass are applied to the offline Standard 8 image.
Additionally, you use DISM with a configuration file to install packages.
