Disable Windows Toast Notifications (Standard 8)

Learn how to disable Windows Toast Notifications on your Windows Embedded 8 Standard (Standard 8) device.

You can disable the toast notifications displayed by Windows 8 apps.

To disable application toast notifications

  1. Press the Windows logo key + R to open a Run window.

  2. Type Gpedit.msc in the Open box, and then press ENTER.

  3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

  4. Under User Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Start Menu and Taskbar, and then click Notifications.

  5. In the Setting pane, double-click Turn off toast notifications.

  6. In the Turn off toast notifications window, click Enabled, and then click Ok.

  7. In the Setting pane, double-click Turn off toast notifications on the lock screen.

  8. In the Turn off toast notifications on the lock screen window, click Enabled, and then click Ok.

Remarks

Windows system features are not affected by the policy settings modified in this topic. You must enable/disable system features individually to stop their ability to raise toast notifications.
