Installing Services for NetWare

Microsoft Services for NetWare are optional, and may be installed after installing the Server Appliance Kit components. The following Services for NetWare components must be installed and enabled:

  • Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX)
  • NetWare client–needed if you install MSDSS
  • File and Print Services for NetWare (FPNW)
  • Microsoft Directory Service Synchronization (MSDSS)

To Install IPX Protocol

  1. Install the IPX protocol. Click the Start button, and then point to Settings, and then choose Network and Dial-up Connections.
  2. Select a network adapter and right-click the NIC name, and then choose Properties, and then point to Install, and then point to Protocol, and then choose Add.
  3. Select NWLink IPX, and then choose OK.

To Install FPNW from the Services for NetWare Distribution CD

  1. Click the Start button, and then point to Settings, and then choose Network and Dial-up Connections, and then select a network adapter.
  2. Right-click the NIC name of the chosen network adapter.
  3. Choose Properties, and then choose Install.
  4. Choose Service, and then point to Add, and then choose Have Disk.
  5. Type the path for the FPNW subdirectory on the Services for NetWare CD and then choose OK, or choose Browse and open the FPNW subdirectory on the Services for Netware CD and then choose OK.
  6. Select the file Netsfn.INF.
  7. Choose File andPrint Services for NetWare.

Setting the Machine Identity

Note that during the installation of Services for Netware (SFN), you will be prompted for the server name, supervisor password, system volume directory, and tuning settings. You must change the server name to NAME_NW, where NAME is the server's actual name.
