Evaluation of Network Performance Test Results (Windows CE 5.0)

Send Feedback

After you have completed a network performance test for Windows CE and a Windows-based desktop OS, you must evaluate the results of the tests to determine if you should optimize your NDIS miniport driver. For example, if the performance results for a Windows CE-based device with an x-86 microprocessor are more than 10 percent slower than the results from a Windows-based desktop computer, you can significantly increase your network performance through optimization. However, if the results are similar, you might not obtain noticeable improvements by optimizing your NDIS miniport driver.

Note   Microsoft recommends that you use the NDIS Performance Test in the Windows CE Test Kit (CETK) to test the performance of your NDIS miniport driver.

Once you have analyzed the results of your network performance test, you can improve performance for an NDIS miniport driver. For more information, see Performance Improvements for an NDIS Miniport Driver.

Note   Most likely, data transfers that call the send or recv function with a small buffer size will cause throughput results that can be appreciably slower than transfers that use larger buffer sizes.
