Downloading the Boot Loader to the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB to Flash
Before downloading the Ethernet boot loader, determine if the OEM boot loader is on the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB. For more information, see OEM Boot Loader Output for the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB.
If you are installing the Windows CE boot loader for the first time or restoring a boot loader that was corrupted, you can use the following procedure to download the Windows CE boot loader to the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB.
To download the boot loader to the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB to Flash memory
Set your device to boot to the OEM boot monitor, DMON. The following table shows the S1 switch settings used to boot to the DMON prompt.
Switch Setting S1-1 On S1-2 Off S1-3 Off S1-4 Off Note The S2 switches must not change. The following table shows the S2 switch settings.
Switch Setting S2-1 On S2-2 On S2-3 Off S2-4 Off On your development workstation, configure your software terminal emulator to the settings shown in the following table.
Bits per second Data bits Parity Stop bits Flow control 57600 8 None 1 None Connect a NULL modem serial cable between the debug serial port on the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB and the COM port on your development workstation.
Turn on the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB.
Verify that you are getting the debug serial output on your terminal emulator window, which ends with the DMON prompt:
DMON>
At the prompt, type L to download to RAM, and then press ENTER.
On your software terminal emulator, select the option to send a file, and then browse to the location where you have copied the Eboot.sre file for the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB.
Once you have located the Eboot.sre file, select it for download, and then verify that the file is being transferred to RAM.
When the file transfer has been completed, the DMON prompt will return.
At the DMON prompt, type p and then press ENTER.
The DMON status window will show that the boot loader is being written to flash memory.
Turn off the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB after the boot loader has been completely written to flash memory.
Set switch S1-1 to Off.
Note The other S1 switches remain the same.
On your development workstation, configure your software terminal emulator to the settings shown in the following table.
Bits per second Data bits Parity Stop bits Flow control 38400 8 None 1 None Turn on the Hitachi US7729 HARP (Keywest) SDB.
Verify that you have successfully downloaded the Windows CE boot loader by looking at the boot loader message.
