How to Create a Windows Thin Client Platform

The Windows Thin Client configuration provides a starting point for remote-desktop terminals that can be accessed through support for Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). To create a Windows Thin Client on a CEPC, you can use either the New Platform Wizard that includes a pre-configured option or you can build a custom platform by manually selecting the necessary features from the catalog.

Hardware and Software Assumptions

  • For BSP, choose CEPC x86.
  • For configuration, choose Windows Thin Client.
  • If the Application & Media page appears, choose the desired features.

The RDP feature allows a thin client to execute Windows applications within a Windows graphical user interface (GUI) environment, even though they are actually being executed on the server. For information about the RDP modules and components, see Remote Desktop Protocol Overview.

To build a Windows Thin Client on hardware other than a CEPC, make certain your hardware meets the requirements described in Thin Client Hardware.
