Downloading the Emulator IP Phone Run-time Image (Windows CE 5.0)
You can configure the download connection for the Emulator and then use this connection to download and run the run-time image.
To configure the download connection and download the IP Phone run-time image
To configure the download connection, from the Target menu, choose Connectivity Options.
To create a new device entry to interact with the Emulator, choose Add Device.
In the New target device name box, enter a name for the device (the text can be anything you'd like).
Choose Add to create the new device entry.
Choose Kernel Service Map.
In the Download box, choose Emulator.
Choose Settings next to the Download box entry you just changed.
To modify settings for the Emulator, in the Emulator Download Settings dialog box, perform the tasks in the following table.
Setting Task Display Not available; select Emulator skin. Emulator skin - Select Emulator skin and then click ... to navigate to and open the emulator_skins directory. The path to this directory is <program files>\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows CE Tools\Platman\sdk\wce500\samples\emulator_skins.
- Open the IP_Phone folder, select the VoIP_Phone1.xml file, and then choose Open.
Memory (MB) Do not change the default settings. Host key Do not change the default settings. Retain foreground priority Do not change the default settings. Ethernet support Select Virtual Switch - <network interface card>. Serial port 1 Select None. Serial port 2 Select None. Parallel port Select None. Choose OK.
In the Transport box, choose Emulator.
Choose Apply to save your changes, and then choose Close to close the Target Connectivity Options dialog box.
To download the run-time image to the Emulator , from the Target menu, choose Attach Device.
It can take time for the run-time image to finish downloading and for Windows CE to start. When Windows CE has started, you will see the Telephony User Interface (TUI) login screen.
If you have not yet copied the run-time image .bin file to another computer and started an Emulator instance on that computer (so you have two phones that can communicate with each other), you should now follow the instructions in Downloading the Emulator IP Phone Run-time Image on Another Computer.
