Using Visual Studio to Develop 64-Bit DSF Applications

There is no native 64-bit version of Visual Studio 2005 or Visual Studio 2008. Visual Studio is a 32-bit application that can run on an x64 operating system and that supports development and debugging of 64-bit applications. When you develop a DSF application in Visual Studio by using managed libraries, you need to reference the DSF Object library from the COM tab in the resources. However, if Visual Studio is running on an x64-based platform, the DSF Object library is not available because the DSF Object library is 64-bit and cannot be referenced directly from the emulation layer. Therefore, you cannot develop a DSF application in Visual Studio on an x64-based platform by using managed libraries. You must use unmanaged languages to develop a DSF application in Visual Studio on an x64-based platform.
