PackageInfo XML Schema

The PackageInfo XML schema specifies the contents of the device metadata package.

A device metadata package must contain only one XML document that is formatted with the PackageInfo XML schema. The operating system uses the data from this XML document to install the package and reference its contents.

Note   The XML document must be saved by using UTF-8 encoding.

For the complete definition of the PackageInfo XML schema, see PackageInfo XML Schema Definition.

For information about the elements that are defined by the PackageInfo XML schema, see PackageInfo XML Elements.

For information about the data types that are defined by the PackageInfo XML schema, see PackageInfo XML Data Types.

For an example of XML data in the format that is defined by the Packagenfo XML schema, see Sample PackageInfo XML Data.

Note   The PackageInfo XML schema is supported in Windows 7 and later versions of Windows.
