Obsolete. Indicates an XML document and specifies the version and character set for the current document.

Remarks

Windows Internet Explorer 7. The Channel Definition Format (CDF) is obsolete and should not be used.

Include the XML processing instruction once at the beginning of the XML (CDF or Open Software Description (OSD)) file.

Examples

It's a good idea to specify the character set and version numbers even when default values are assigned, as in the following example.

<?XML ENCODING="UTF-8" VERSION="1.0"?>
