Working with Apps

You can use the Company Portal to browse for and install applications that your administrator has made available. Applications might be installed from the company portal, or you might be redirected to an online app store or to a web application that will run in your browser.

Note

Some applications might require approval from your administrator before you can install them. If you are prompted during the installation, enter a reason for installing the application and submit the approval request. Your administrator may approve or deny the request. If the request is denied, you can submit an additional request. If the request is approved, the application will install automatically with 24 hours of the approval.

Install applications

To install an application on a computer by using the Company Portal website

  1. In the company portal, click Apps .

  2. If the application that you want to install is not displayed on the screen, locate the application by performing one of the following actions:

    • Type a name into Search for Apps and click the search icon.

    • Sort the displayed list of applications by Categories.

    • Sort the displayed list of applications by Title, Publisher, or the last modified date.

  3. Click the software application that you want to install.

  4. Select the computers on which to install the software, and then click Install .

  5. The status of the installation will display on the applications list page.

To install an application on a computer by using the Company Portal app

  1. In the company portal app, perform one of the following actions:

    • Click All Apps . You can sort the list of available apps by Name, Date Published, or Publisher.

    • Click New Apps to see recently published apps.

    • Click All Categories to view available apps by category.

    • Tap the Search charm and enter a search term to search for an application.

  2. Click the software application that you want to install.

  3. Select the devices on which to install the software, and then click Install .

To install an application by using the Windows Phone 8 company portal app

  1. In the application list, click Company Apps .

  2. Select the category that you want, and then select the desired app.

  3. Select one of the following options:

    • Install

    • View in store

    • Open in browser

  4. Follow the installation instructions.
