Adding a RIS Image
Applies To: Windows Compute Cluster Server 2003
In order to use the Automated Addition method of adding compute nodes to your cluster, you must first create a RIS installation image from your operating system media using the Add New Images wizard. You can create as many images as you want. When you create an image, you will enter a descriptive name for image and a name for the folder where it will be stored on a special non-system volume on the head node. When the process is complete, the image will appear by its descriptive name on the Select Image page of the Add Node wizard, where you can select it for remote installation. .
There are two types of RIS images. One type uses an unattended setup answer file (*.sif). This is the type of RIS image used by Compute Cluster Server 2003. The other type of RIS image file, created with the RIPrep program, is not supported.
Note
Ensure that you include all required hardware drivers in the RIS image. In particular, verify that 64-bit drivers for the network adaptor and other components are included in the image.

After the wizard finishes copying the installation files and performing tasks associated with making the installation image available for use, click Done.
