Remote Desktop Connection shortcut does not appear on START menu and Remote tab does not appear on System Properties after upgrade from Windows 2000 with IIS
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1
Although the Start menu shortcut and the Remote tab have not been installed, the Remote Desktop Connection application itself is installed. The user interface elements may be hidden if the permissions on the \Inetpub directory or the \Inetpub\Adminscripts directory deny full control to the Local System account.
There are several ways to address this issue.
Work around the issue by running Remote Desktop Connection from the command line.
Restore the Remote tab on the System Properties page.
Restore the Start menu shortcut.
